The project challenges
- Improve the buying experience.
- Introduce the new service, ComiXology Unlimited, allowing users to Borrow up to 40 comics at a time.
- Simplify the library management experience.
- Improve the reading experience.

I created this one-pager to illustrate the overall approach to the project.
The most complicated part of managing this omnichannel experience was keeping track of all the key touchpoints. Each device had unique constraints and so required different interaction solutions. For example, multi-select. It's unique per device and platform. To help simplify our conversations, I printed out a gigantic diagram of the interaction framework and hung it on a wall near our desks. We referred to the diagram to plan all of the work from that point forward.
Custom process solutions
A unique spec was required to simplify work for the devs. We used a traditional wireframe and included ref IDs from the requirements document. All updates were passed through documents like this and attached to Jira tickets. We used a synchronized asset setup which allowed us to push updates without needing to re-attach design specs to tickets. This lead to greater accuracy for devs reducing the number of times they'd have to rework something due to it being out of date. A win for all teams: product, devs, and design.
I really enjoyed creating the interactions for comic reading the experience, this was one of my favorite solutions.
Outcomes
The results were terrific. Across all success metrics, we saw double-digit growth in engagement, new user acquisition, and cart purchases.
The App Store rating had been stuck at 3-stars for nearly a year. After we shipped the new experience, our ratings skyrocketed to a 4.3-star rating.
